ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Ron McGaughey's Douglas Creek Geology shows a popular landmark near Wenatchee, in Central Washington. The spot attracts hikers, geologists, photographers, painters, and on hot summer days, swimmers. More than one person has drowned in the shallow but strong current. The artist notes “Walking along the creek one is surprised over and over with exciting views and challenging visual arrangements. The painting is about three things: rock, water and light.”
