ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Mother is an abstract drawing created by artist Kathy Fridstein. It is part of a body of paintings and drawings inspired by archeological fragments. Based on ancient myths, these drawings explore our relationship to home and family. She notes, "In Mother the ancient Earth Mother symbol is overlaid and intertwined with the image of the home and spiral symbolizing birth and life. I employ many universal symbols in my drawings, hoping and intending the viewer to seek out their own interpretation."
