ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Symphony in Five Movements - Skier is part of a suite of five interactive sculptures created by artist Ken Turner for the Washington State School for the Blind. He created the five figures to celebrate sports activities popular with blind athletes. They celebrate the grace and tenacity of the school's community. At the base of each sculpture, Turner installed metal poles that create a tone when struck with a cane. Each sculpture creates a different tone. Together the sculptures engage sight, sound, and touch.
