Ceramic and Clay Artworks

Ceramic art can range from traditional craftsmanship to new interpretations of how to use clay. Ceramic objects are created from clay and other earthen materials that are shaped and then fired at high temperatures to become hard and durable. This includes a variety of forms and techniques such as pottery, tiles, vessels, and sculptures.

Artists are often interested in different elements of ceramic art, such as the shape of the object, the act of working and experimenting with clay as a material, the objects' surface decorations by painting, carving, or other methods, the glazing process, the firing process, and more. Many of these artists work mainly with clay, while others have used clay simply as a vehicle for their ideas for a specific artwork.
