Canoe Journey (and other boats)

The Canoe Journey is an annual gathering and canoe voyage of Indigenous Nations from the coasts of Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon, and Washington. It began in 1989, after decades of government oppression, as a way to renew and share PNW Indigenous traditions and culture. There is a different host and end destination every year, and canoe families visit many Indigenous Nations over several days as they paddle to the final destination. It is a celebration and a journey!
