Year One

Washington's State Art Collection started in 1975. The very first artwork was "Langskip Norseland Spirit" by Ken Lundemo, a large, 19 feet tall x 6 feet x 12 feet longboat sculpture. It is inspired by the Scandinavian heritage of the city of Poulsbo on southern Puget Sound, where it is located. The following artworks were also acquired during the State Art Collection's first year.
