ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Journey to Somewhere is a collaged print by artist Lisa Sheets. She based the images on 1940s magazine ads, vintage photographs, and a photograph of herself in a red dress. She notes, "I did this print during a time when I was trying to have a baby. The concepts of journeying towards that possibility were very much on my mind." Sheets used this piece in a collaborative art project called "7 x 7" with seven other artists. Each artist made an initial art piece, and all artists responded to each other's pieces until everyone had made seven artworks. Artist Carol Plaia conceived of the project, and it was exhibited at Kirkland Art Center in January 2000. Sheets created this print during an artist residency at Frog Farm Press in Sarasota, Florida.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with .
