Washington’s State Art Collection is one of the oldest and largest statewide public art collections in the nation. It includes more than 5,000 artworks, from works on paper to paintings to large-scale installations that engage the issues of our time.

The Collection can be found in 1,300 buildings and campuses across Washington. It is in urban and rural areas where the public lives, works, and learns. With sixty percent of the Collection sited in K-12 public schools, Washington ensures that young students have early access to original artworks by professional artists. And the state’s 50+ public colleges and universities are home to more than a thousand state-owned artworks that enliven campus communities.

This diverse collection is selected by the public and for public spaces, where it is shared across Washington’s 71,000 square miles. The Collection can also be found online through My Public Art Portal, as well as this interactive map, developed in collaboration with WaTech.
