DOGS: The Web Exhibition
The cats may have a famous Broadway musical (and CATS: The Web Exhibition) but there are more artworks that include dogs than cats in Washington's State Art Collection.
Artists have always shown their admiration and respect for dogs by making paintings and sculptures of them. The dog has been a subject in art for thousands of years, since the beginning of human history, in cultures all over the world. And Washington's State Art Collection is no different – there are many dogs represented in our artworks. They range from pet dogs to wolves and coyotes and foxes (who are all closely related). They are our best friends, co-pilots, protectors, work companions, look-alikes, and wise friends.
