ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Joan Stuart Ross created the painting Water Quilt I using oil stick and collage elements. The artist’s interest in water inspired the artwork. She notes, “I have combined visual ideas of the colors of water and its depth, its ebb and flow and movement of the undercurrents and rhythms of water… Water imagery conjures ideas of the conscious and the unconscious mind as well as visual narratives about the mysterious undersea world.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with .
